IIT Bhubaneshwar is one of the most sought after IITs for aspiring students. IIT Bhubaneshwar is present at the foot of the Barunei Hill. This campus is spread over 963 acres and has a separate residential area apart from its academic centers. They have a separate Research Park and Training Centres for students pursuing research. For all the branches there is a common curriculum for the first and second semesters. First Semester introduces Mathematics-1, Physics/ Chemistry, English/Mechanics, Electrical Technology/Data Structures, Engineering Graphics and Design/ Introduction to Manufacturing Processes, and laboratories associated with the subjects. The second semester consists of Mathematics-2 and the subjects which are not incorporated in the First semester. The subjects from the Third Semester vary for each branch. The subjects incorporated in after the second semester are normally core subjects and also form a strong base for any branch whether it be Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering.
Civil Engineering
The subjects offered range from Solid Mechanics, Basic Electronics, and Hydraulics to Waste Water Engineering, Design of Steel Structures, etc. Electives such as Hydropower Engineering, Bridge Engineering, Soil Dynamics, etc can be opted in seventh and eight semesters. This course also includes labs related to the subjects.
Computer Science and Engineering
This course includes Data Structures, Digital Electronics, Computer Organization and Architecture, OS and labs associated with the subjects. Electives such as Artificial Intelligence, Computer Graphics, and Robotics can be chosen in seventh and eight semesters.
Electrical Engineering
Network Theory, Control Systems, Power Electronics, Electrical Power Transmission and Distribution, Measurement and Instrumentation Lab, Digital Signal Processing Lab etc. come under Electrical Engineering. Electives include VLSI Design, Fiber Optics, Electric Drives, Smart Grid Technology, and so on.
Electronics and Communication Engineering
Subjects included are Signals and Systems, Analog Communication, Control Systems, Microprocessor and Microcontroller Lab, Communication Networks and Switching etc. whereas Electives include Computer Design, Antenna Theory, Wireless and Mobile Communication, Advanced Digital Signal Processing, Microwave Design and Measurement and so on.
Mechanical Engineering
Subjects included are Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, IC Engines, Casting, Welding and Forming Lab, Machine Design Practice, Design of Machine Elements etc. Electives include Vibrations, Turbulence, Operations Research, and Soft Computational Techniques in Mechanical Engineering and so on.
Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
Subjects include Materials Processing, Physical Metallurgy, Iron and Steel Making, etc. Electives include Powder Metallurgy, Biomaterials, Energy Materials, Advances in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and so on.
Dual Degree program awards students with both B.Tech and M.Tech degrees. These courses are as follows:

FEE STRUCTURE:
The Grand Total fee at IIT Bhubaneshwar is for General Category is INR 1,43,500 and for SC, ST and PH the fee is INR 43,500. This fee is for the first semester. The fee for second, fourth, sixth and eight semesters for General Category is INR 1,24,300 and for SC, ST and PH is INR 24,300. Fee for third, fifth and seventh semester for General Category is INR 1,25,600 and for SC, ST and PH is INR 25,600. This fee structure includes categories like:
